Dr. Rebecca Martin worked in private practice and a large general practice prior to founding Premier Pet Dentistry in 2016. Dr. Martin was born and raised in Florida, where she met her husband and earned her Bachelors in Animal Science as a University of Florida Gator. She studied at the University of Glasgow prior to earning her DVM at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2006. In 2007 The Martins moved to Portland and have fully integrated into life in the PNW.
Dr. Martin enjoys all aspects of practice but particularly loves the often dramatic improvement in a pet’s quality of life after their treatment, resulting in them feeling like a puppy or kitten again. Dr. Martin is passionate about offering platinum level care in all aspects of the experience for both patient and pet owner. We believe that utilizing advanced techniques and pain management can provide optimum outcomes and easier recovery for our beloved pets.
Dr. Martin enjoys maxillofacial surgery and reconstructive surgery, utilizing modern technology of Cone Beam Computed Tomography for treatment planning and monitoring. She is active in the American Veterinary Dental College®, serving on the Resident Education Committee to help in the training of future Veterinary Dentists. Dr. Martin has also found great satisfaction in working as a consultant for the Oregon Zoo in Portland.
Outside of work, Dr. Martin can usually be found cheering her son at a swim meet or showing her Greater Swiss Mountain dogs in AKC conformation. She also shares her home with several cats and is proud to be the favorite family member amongst all of them, saying that this affirms her calling as a veterinarian. The Martins enjoy the PNW outdoors and family trips to our National Parks, calling the iconic Yellowstone National Park her happy place. Dr. Martin also enjoys her personal hobbies of gardening and photography.

Dr. Pam Fulkerson

Dr. Fulkerson is a Board Certified Veterinary Anesthesiologist who travels throughout the Pacific Northwest to share her expertise. Dr. Fulkerson is the only independent Anesthesiologist in our region and we are thrilled to host her on a regular basis for challenging cases. Dr. Martin and Dr. Fulkerson have worked together for over 15 years, with Dr. Fulkerson mentoring Dr. Martin to complete the anesthesia requirements of her residency.
Dr. Fulkerson is an excellent resource for patients that have underlying diseases which increase their risk of anesthesia, have had previous complications, or have other high risk factors. Many of our patients are fragile due to underlying conditions such as heart or kidney disease or have been told their pet is too old for anesthesia at their primary care practice. While this may be true in that setting, with Dr Fulkerson’s knowledge and skills we are almost always able to devise an anesthesia plan which will allow for a safe and uneventful procedure.

Due to limited availability and Dr Fulkerson’s travel schedule, a non-refundable deposit is required when scheduling procedures with her. Some patients may require additional diagnostic testing prior to their procedure. We are happy to discuss all options during your consultation and formulate the most appropriate plan for your loved one.
